Alumna Yan Pang Receives Commission From Zhejiang Conservatory of Music and More

Yan Pang

Yan Pang (PhD 2018, composition, student of Alex Lubet) was commissioned by Zhejiang Conservatory of Music (China) to compose a chamber work for their first String Art Festival. The piece is dedicated to sharing the beauty of Zhejiang's Grand Canal. The composition, “For the Love of the Grand Canal,” was performed on May 13, 2019. As the host of one of the largest string art festivals in Asia, Zhejiang Conservatory of Music presented more than ten events including concerts, academic lectures, and master classes. Performers included faculty at Zhejiang Conservatory of Music and Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra: Zhang Yinyin (erhu), Zhang Zheng (cello), Beth Zhao (double bass), and Sun Ying (dance).

Pang also appeared as composer, pianist, choreographer, and dancer in the Urban and Street Dance performance M3, presented by MIXTAPE, at the Cowles Center in Minneapolis, May 10-12, 2019.
