Dr. Emmanuel Rodriguez Appointed Interim Assistant Director of Athletic Bands
The University of Minnesota - Twin Cities School of Music is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Emmanuel Rodriguez as Interim Assistant Director of Athletic Bands. Prior to joining the School of Music, Rodriguez served on the faculties of Indiana State University and the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Previously, he served as Director of Bands at Miramar High School in Florida, where he reanimated the historic program by quadrupling student enrollment and achieving consistently high ratings in district and state evaluations. Rodriguez has earned degrees from Louisiana State University, the University of Central Florida, and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.
“We are delighted to have Dr. Rodriguez join us as part of the Pride of Minnesota,” says Dr. Patrick Warfield, Director of the School of Music. “He is a passionate educator whose musical skills and palpable dedication to every student will strengthen our already remarkable Marching and Athletic Bands.”

Artist Bio
Dr. Emmanuel Rodriguez joins the University of Minnesota as the Interim Assistant Director of Marching and Athletic Bands, where he will work primarily with the “Pride of Minnesota” Marching Band and the “Gopher Groove” Pep Band. Rodriguez previously served on the music faculty at Indiana State University and the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
As a native of South Florida, Rodriguez was fortunate to have taught in schools that served his hometown and community. Most recently, Rodriguez served as the Director of Bands at Miramar High School, where he reanimated the historic program by quadrupling student enrollment and achieving consistently high ratings in district and state evaluations. Prior to that appointment, Rodriguez served as the Associate Director of Bands at Blanche Ely High School, his alma mater.
Beyond the classroom, Rodriguez is active as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician for numerous festivals and camps and has presented at national, state, and regional conferences. Rodriguez recently participated as a H. Robert Reynold’s Conducting Institute Fellow during the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic and was previously awarded the Mike Moss Diversity Grant by the College Band Directors National Association.
Rodriguez has earned degrees from Louisiana State University, the University of Central Florida, and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. Rodriguez holds memberships in the College Band Directors National Association, National Association for Music Education, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Pi Kappa Lambda. In his free time, Rodriguez enjoys cooking and spending time with his family, friends, and puppy - Clover Noelle.
