Professor Dean Billmeyer's Double CD "Straube Plays Bach" Released

Dean Billmeyer

Dean Billmeyer’s (organ) double CD entitled Straube Plays Bach was released on the Rondeau label (Leipzig Germany), and is also available on iTunes and Naxos. Karl Straube, organist and later cantor of the Leipzig Thomaskirche, edited ten of Bach’s most “iconic” works for publication in 1913. The extensive performance instructions in this volume represent a unique documentation of late-Romantic German performance practice. Billmeyer’s recording is the first ever of all ten works in Straube’s edition. Billmeyer recorded the works in 2017 on historic organs in Leipzig and Bad Salzungen. Billmeyer’s project was supported by a Single Semester Leave, Imagine Fund Grant, and Grant-in-Aid of Research, Artistry, and Scholarship. Learn more about the recording and watch the video trailer
