Student Ahmed Anzaldúa's Border CrosSing Presents First Concert
Ahmed Anzaldúa (DMA, choral conducting, student of Kathy Saltzman Romey and Matthew Mehaffey) is artistic director of Border CrosSing, a new organization founded in 2017 by a team of accomplished musicians and arts leaders. Border CrosSing's premier concert of a five-concert series Puentes at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (401 Concord Street St. Paul, MN) will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2017. The concert, Latin America: A Miracle of Faith, explores the complexity of religious faith in Latin America, delving into its role as a tool of oppression during colonization, and exploring its role in social uprisings during the 20th century. The concert will feature Latin American sacred music from different periods and styles to tell these stories, including the monumental Misa Criolla and music by Native American composers written during the Colonial period.
