Student Amanda Weber Gives TEDx Talk on Her Work at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Shakopee, MN

October 16, 2016

Amanda Weber (choral conducting) has sung in choirs her whole life, but only recently come to understand the transformative power of music in very unexpected places. Her latest work has taken her behind the walls of the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Shakopee, MN where a growing group of women are learning to use their voices in a powerful way. This choir may be well hidden, but their message of restorative justice and community rings out loud and clear. Hear Weber tell this story at the upcoming TEDx Salon on Friday, October 21 at MacPhail Center for Music. Tickets at www.tedxminneapolis.com. There will be four speakers at the event, all discussing various aspects of music.
