Student Joe Nelson to Present at the American Musicological Society Meeting and More

Joe Nelson (PhD, musicology) will present a paper entitled, "'Still Jove with Ganymed lyes playinge': King James, Sexuality, and Sovereign Order in the Stuart Court" during the LGBTQ Study Group session at the American Musicological Society annual meeting in November. He has also been accepted to present a paper entitled, “Polluted Minds, Polluted Bodies: The Case of Bethlem and Disordered Sound,” at the conference Early Modern Songscapes hosted by the Centre for Reformation and Renaissance Studies at the University of Toronto in February 2019. He currently is finishing his dissertation on the relationship between musical representations of madness and sonic environments of madhouses in seventeenth-century London with his advisor Dr. Kelley Harness.
