U of M Band Project Video

Professor of Music Education Laura Sindberg and her work leading the University of Minnesota Band Project is featured in a video segment produced by David Ullman of CLA’s LATIS Video Services. Now in its 8th year, the program has been a great success. Many Band Project alumni are now employed as music educators around the metro area--one of whom, Alec Paquin, is featured in this video. Mr. Paquin is the strings and general music teacher at Folwell Performing Arts Magnet. A special thanks to Mr. Paquin, his talented students, and Gabriel Bliss at Folwell for helping us tell the Band Project story.

About the U of M Band Project

The University of Minnesota Band Project is a collaborative partnership wherein U of M music majors travel to urban schools to provide instructional support to existing music programs. With the goal of “thinking in music from the very beginning,” apprentice teachers guide young band students through technique development and creative processes including composition and improvisation. Band Project gives young musicians supportive space to express themselves as musicians and provides U of M music education majors the opportunity to develop teaching skills and knowledge within a real-world context.
