Wentao Xiao, Di Wang, and Zeyi Tan Named Winners of UMN Bands Concerto Competition

Congratulations to Wentao Xiao (DMA trumpet), Di Wang (DMA trombone), and Zeyi Tian (DMA saxophone) for winning the 2025 UMN Bands Concerto Competition. 

Wentao Xiao and Di Wang will perform Turrin's Fandango (1999) for Trumpet, Trombone, and Band on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 7:30 PM with the Symphonic Band.

Zeyi Tian will perform Smith's Fantasia (1983) for Alto Saxophone and Band in the fall 2025 (first concert of the season, date TBD) with the University Wind Ensemble.

The School of Music wants to thank the selection committee, the participating students for their dedicated preparation, applied faculty, and Ferguson Hall Staff. Additional support was provided by Friends of the University Bands and Band Director's Discretionary Funds.
