Mr. Davis is a native of Memphis, Tennessee, completing his 18th year in music education. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Memphis, and his Master of Music degree from the University of Saint Thomas.

Mr. Davis’s teaching career has included both choral and instrumental music education. He has developed outstanding music programs that serve the needs of the learner, while promoting learners as champions of the community. His choral and instrumental programs are active performers and have received both excellent and superior ratings in state, regional, and national festivals.

He was nominated as a quarterfinalist for Grammy Music Educator of the Year in 2014 and 2016 and was featured on Classical MPR in January 2014 for excellence in music education. He was also selected as a top educator in the Celebration of Teachers for Minneapolis Public Schools in 2016. In 2017, he was nominated finalist for Minnesota Teacher of the Year.

Mr. Davis is the Chair of Equity and Diversity for the Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA), and an active member of the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME). He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA).

He is an active musician and producer. He is a percussionist, pianist, and organist. He has his own music production company, Divers Music, which he founded in 2008.

Mr. Davis, along with his wife, Tyona, and three children, Arielle, Tobias, and Allyse, reside in north Minneapolis, MN.
