The Complete Flutist 2020
June 15-19 2020
The Complete Flutist is a five-day intensive flute workshop at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Master classes, private lessons, orchestral repertoire, Alexander Technique, and more! Open to serious flutists ages 17 and above.
- Monday: Registration and classes start.
- Friday: Last day of classes.
- Saturday: Departure
Faculty and Guest Artists
Immanuel Davis, Professor of Flute, University of Minnesota
For this class, Immanuel is joined by Christina Smith, principal flutist of the Atlanta Symphony and Catherine Ramierz, flutist and artist-in-residence at St. Olaf. Together, they will be conducting daily performance master classes and giving private lessons throughout the week.
In addition to the flute classes, there will be private Alexander Technique lessons and master classes in using AT for performance to help musicians reach their full potential as players: the technique can help people overcome stage-fright, improve breathing, increase awareness in activity, which allows for better ensemble playing, and help get rid of excess tension, which ultimately allows for freer playing and self-expression.
There will be a pianist for the performance master classes, so please bring your scores.
