Kim International Piano Camp

Kim International Piano Camp is a ten-day (July 20–29, 2017) joyous summer piano experience for up to 20 advanced pianists (ages 10 and up) led by School of Music faculty and guests. The camp will include:

Pre-College Program

Our pre-college piano program offers a rich and varied curriculum to young talented students of intermediate to advanced level (ages 10 and up), helping them to progress, and nurture their love and enjoyment of music.   

Practice: Each student will be supervised by experienced teachers and camp teaching assistants in morning practice sessions.  

Music Theory and History: Explore basic and intermediate level music theory and music history in fun, interactive sessions.

Ensemble: Learn and be coached on introductory and intermediate piano ensemble pieces. 

Performance Class: Opportunity to perform prepared solo and duet pieces in front of classmates. Listen to some of our faculty’s live performances.

Additional Activities

Performance opportunities at the Kim International Piano Festival Showcase Concert. Attendance at various concerts by Faculty, Guest Artists, and Young Rising Stars (optional: please see college-level schedule below)

Educational Outings:
Weisman Art Museum at the University of Minnesota, Piano Museum (The Schubert Club) in Saint Paul (tentatively the afternoons of July 21, July 27) 

Ice cream party:
Izzy’s Ice Cream (tentatively the afternoon of July 25)

Application & Cost

Tuition: $600 USD
Limited, partial tuition scholarship assistance available based on evidence of financial need. Submit statement of financial need for consideration, all aid decisions are final and non-appealable.

On campus housing in Middlebrook Hall, across from the School of Music:

  • Single room: $350 USD for 11 nights (July 19, check out on July 30)
  • Double room: $300 USD for 11 nights
  • Additional nights can be arranged upon request


The meal plan is not included in the camp tuition or dormitory costs. A cafeteria is located in Middlebrook Hall. Camp participants may pay cash for an all-you-care-to-eat meal.
