The CLA Alumni Community

CLA's alumni group recently adopted several changes to their governing structure that preserves their historic partnership with the U of M Alumni Association (UMAA) while furthering their alignment with the College of Liberal Arts Road Map. The following modifications are meant to more clearly position the group as inclusive, action-oriented, and offering of flexible volunteer opportunities.

1. The group’s name has changed from the CLA Alumni Society to the CLA Alumni Community. 
2. The name of their governing structure has changed from a Board of Directors to a Leadership Team.
3. Going into the 2019-2020 term, they will adjust to a new schedule of strategically paced Leadership Team meetings, Committee meetings, and Alumni Community gatherings to better heed the myriad scheduling and life demands of volunteers, carve out focused time for group direction-setting and governance, and provide more flexible conduits for volunteers to become involved.
