The Power of the Word

Explore how language—in all its forms—shapes our lives. From the written and spoken word to the ways we hear, interpret, and communicate, faculty from across disciplines—including creative writing, journalism, languages and linguistics, premodern studies, speech-language-hearing sciences, and writing studies—will share how words have the power to inspire, heal, and transform.

The World Around Us

How do we understand the world we live in—and our place within it? Engage with big questions about society, culture, identity, and the environment. Faculty from across the humanities and social sciences will share insights into how people shape the world and how the world, in turn, shapes us—through history, language, politics, art, and human connection. Featuring faculty from Anthropology, Geography, Global Studies, Human Rights Program, Immigration History Research Center, Liberal Arts Engagement Hub, Political Science, and Philosophy.
