At a leading research institution such as the University of Minnesota, coursework is only one piece of the undergraduate experience. The University offers various opportunities to participate in cutting edge research and to engage in learning outside of the classroom.

Research Opportunities

We offer many opportunities for undergraduates to participate in innovative research, including research for credit (see PSY 4993/5993: Directed Research), support for the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP), and more. At least one semester of research lab experience for credit is required for psychology BS students, and it is highly recommended for all psychology majors. Learn more about research opportunities.

Internships & Community Engagement

Internships and community engagement experiences are an excellent way to explore interests, develop skills, and make connections with professionals in the field. Learn where to find internships, volunteer experiences, and other resources to build your resume and prepare for life after graduation. PSY 3896: Internship in Psychology allows students to receive academic credit for their internship work. Learn more about internships and community engagement.
