Empowering Citizens to Exercise Legal Agency: Identifying Common Challenges and Sharing Strategies across the Americas
November 8, 2019 - 11:00am
University of Minnesota Law School, Room 45
Access to justice is a fundamental right and is crucial to the protection of all other rights. Yet across our hemisphere, from St. Paul to Santiago, vast sectors of the population lack the capacity to claim rights effectively. This workshop invites members of the University and community to share ideas and experiences on how to empower marginalized populations to identify and claim their rights. The conversation will be led by UMN Professor of Political Science, Lisa Hilbink, who is developing a community-engaged action research project on legal empowerment in Chile, with graduate student Valentina Salas. The workshop is free and open to the public.
