The Department of Political Science is excited to host another Politics in Practice event this fall, hosting alumnus Adriano Udani, PhD '11 (political science). Come learn about Adriano's time in the political science department, his current endeavors as Director of Community-Engaged Research at UROC, and how academic research can directly intersect with community advocacy.
At the University of Minnesota, Adriano Udani serves as the Director of Community Engaged Research at the Robert J. Jones Urban Research and Outreach Engagement Center (UROC), which emerged through the input and activism of North Minneapolis residents in partnership with the University since 2008. Formerly an associate professor of political science at the University of Missouri, St. Louis, Adriano continues to pursue his research with immigrant and migrant community partners who position Latin American asylum seekers in strength for political action and advocacy to address harms inflicted by the U.S. immigration system.
Adriano is an affiliate faculty member at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. He also currently serves as a co-director of the American Political Science Association’s Institute for Civically Engaged Research. Adriano received his B.S. from Northwestern University, M.P.A. from the Maxwell School of Public Affairs at Syracuse University, and his doctorate in political science at Minnesota (2011).
