Christopher Federico receives Award for Outstanding Contributions to Graduate and Professional Education
Christopher Federico, a professor of political science, psychology, and political psychology, has received the 2026 Award for Outstanding Contributions to Graduate and Professional Education.
Since 1998-1999, the University of Minnesota recognizes a select group of faculty members each year for their outstanding contributions to graduate and/or professional education. This honor is awarded to exceptional candidates nominated by their colleges in their quest to identify excellence in graduate and/or professional education, as well potential for continuing contributions. Award recipients are chosen based on a range of factors, including excellence in instruction, student involvement in research and professional development, development of instructional programs, equity and diversity, and advising and mentoring of students.
Federico is a political psychologist with interests crossing disciplinary boundaries. His research focuses on the nature of ideology and belief systems, the psychological foundations of political preferences, and intergroup attitudes. Federico is currently working with PhD student Nicolas Campos on a book focusing on the measurement of affective polarization.
