Call for Graduate Assistants to Support Premodern Programming in Academic Year 2021-2022

The Center for Early Modern History and the Center for Medieval Studies are hiring two 50%-time Graduate Assistants for Academic Year 2021-2022 to support Center programming and activities. Candidates must hold ABD status and qualify for the lower (post-thesis credits) tuition rate. Candidates from any department are eligible to apply. Summer hours in 2021 may be available to 2021-2022 GAs to allow them to work with current staff and transition into their roles.

Required qualifications include excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to interact with scholars, students, and the public in a professional manner; and experience with the appropriate technologies to fulfill the designated tasks listed below. Graduate Assistants must be available to regularly work center events on Thursday evenings and Friday days. Preferred qualifications include expertise in Premodern Studies; familiarity with basic financial processes, including budgeting and expense tracking; and experience with the University of Minnesota accounting system. Preference will be given to candidates able to commit to working in the Center for both semesters. We are also looking for at least one candidate with experience leading the Medieval Books in the Schools program.

Interested candidates should send a cover letter detailing their interest in and qualification for the position, a current c.v., and names of three references to premod@umn.edu. We will interview candidates in late April.

Application deadline: Monday, April 19, 2021.

Specific job duties for the Center Graduate Assistants are available in the full call for the position which is linked here. These tasks are typically divided between the two GAs based on interests and expertise.
