First established in 2014, the Research Workshops have grown to become a critical incubator for innovation in premodern studies by fostering new and emerging research, providing space for experimental inquiry and skill building, and creating collaborative scholarly groups within and outside the University.

The application is short and linked via button below. Applications are due to by July 15. Funding decisions will be finalized by early August. Please note the budgetary guidelines in the application.

Funding priority will be given to workshop proposals with:

  • Detailed descriptions of planned activities tied to research goals that support innovation in premodern studies in clear and compelling ways.
  • Demonstrated participant interest and/or a strong target audience for the proposed workshop. (Workshops that connect CPS to new communities and participants are encouraged.)
  • Budgets that demonstrate thoughtful use of CPS funds with an attention to balancing requested resources with potential impact. (Highly successful workshops don’t always require large budgets.)
  • Regional Colloquium participation plans and a named regional collaborator. (See below: Project Proposal and Budget)
