Internships in Psychology Informational Sessions

This informational session will focus on sharing resources on how to get started with internships that relate to the Psychology Major. Students will learn about the PSY 3896: Internships in Psychology class. Students will also leave this session with 2-3 ideas to explore for an Internship. Interested students must register for the event. These events are open to all currently enrolled UMN Psychology undergraduate students. Psychology Undergraduate Majors will benefit most from this event.

Critical Collaborations Colloquium Series - Time to Change: A Temporal Model of Acculturation and Adaptation

Migration to other countries and parts of the world is part of humanity. As individuals and families adjust and adapt to their new homeland, they experience cultural challenges and changes to their behaviors, values, and worldviews. This process of acculturation and adaptation has typically been studied as a static typology using cross-sectional study designs. Dr. Rich LeeDr. Peter Titzmann will review acculturation theory and research, describe new temporal concepts of acculturation and adaptation, present longitudinal studies testing some of these new concepts, and discuss future research directions.

Generalized Anxiety and Panic Disorder Symposium

NAMI On-Campus invites you to a symposium on panic disorder and generalized anxiety. Speakers from Boynton Health, NAMI MN, and The Bakken Center for Spirituality and Healing will share insights into anxiety and panic attacks, highlight available resources, and introduce mindfulness and grounding-based tactics you can use during times of stress. Interpersonal Relationships Research Colloquium Series: Seeing, Seizing, and Sustaining Opportunities to Act with If-Then Plans

Implementation intentions are plans that have the format, if (opportunity arises)- then (I do this)! Research has examined whether, why, and when if-then plans promote goal attainment. In this talk, Dr. Paschal Sheeran asks whether if-then plans can help people find, grasp, and reset opportunities to act under difficult circumstances.

Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility Research Workshop Series: Who, When, Where, Why, and How? Identifying and Understanding Multiracial Populations in Social Science Research

The Multiracial population, comprised of individuals with biological parents with different racial backgrounds, currently makes up ~10% of the United States population and is far and away the fastest growing population group in North America. Drawing on diverse data sources from the United States and Canada, Dr. Keita Christophe will identify the potential pitfalls when researchers fail to properly identify Multiracial participants, as well as provide concrete steps to identify these research participants in a way consistent with one’s primary research questions.

*Credit* DSCN Undergraduate Research Assistant Openings - Summer 2026

The Developmental Social Cognitive Neuroscience lab is looking for responsible, motivated, and detail-oriented students to volunteer in our lab for credit. Our research focuses on development of executive function skills including attention, working memory, inhibitory control, cognitive flexibility, and reflection in children. We have several studies looking for help with data management, survey and assessment administration, data analysis, literature reviews, and other tasks. There may be opportunities to assist with EEG data collection. In addition, students can attend weekly lab meetings. Dr. Amanda Woodward is looking for students to enroll in an online asynchronous section of PSY 5993 this summer. In this experience, students will learn scholarship of teaching and learning and study factors related to student learning. Through this project, students will gain skills related to conducting a literature review, editing a code book to capture student attitudes and learning, coding assignments, and analyzing data. Most work will be completed asynchronously, though occasional zoom meetings (based on student availability) will be necessary to ensure training is complete and to discuss coding assignments. Interested students should complete the interest form and may email Dr. Amanda Woodward ([email protected]) to discuss any questions they have about this opportunity.

Save the Date: Minnesota Undergraduate Psychology Conference (MUPC) 2026

Augsburg University is hosting this year's Minnesota Undergraduate Psychology Conference! Students who are interested in submitting their research proposals to present as a poster or talk should save the date for MUPC! Summer & Fall 2026 UROP Deadlines

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) provides University of Minnesota undergraduates from every college, major, and discipline, the opportunity to partner with a faculty member on research or creative projects. The deadline to apply for a Summer or Fall 2026 Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) award is March 16, 2026. Not sure where to start? $1,000 Study Abroad Scholarship for Psychology & Developmental Psychology Majors

Automatic $1,000 scholarship awards are available for psychology and developmental psychology majors for Fall 2026 for the Psychology & Research in Madrid, Spain, and Youth Development & Psychology in Montpellier, France programs. Gain a cross-cultural view of psychology and a comparative perspective on psychology and development systems. Psychology-related courses, electives in other academic areas, and an optional community engagement or research experience are offered on both programs. Funds are limited and awards will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Language & Culture in Southern France 

Students will study in Montpellier, with a centuries-old history of intellectual advances and social tolerance. They will choose from beginning through advanced French language courses as well as courses in humanities, engineering, sciences, and business. Psychology faculty member, Dr. Bonnie Klimes-Dougan will be teaching MONT 4303: Adolescent Psychology, which is approved as a direct equivalent to CPSY 4303 and counts toward the psychology major or minor! Application deadline for the Summer 2026 session is March 15th, 2026

Mental Health Support Specialist

Are you interested in gaining hands-on experience in the mental health field while making a real difference? RADIAS Health is hiring full-time (30-40 hours a week) Mental Health Support Specialists for our Residential Support Services program, supporting adults with mental illness and/or substance use disorders in a home-like setting. You'll build relationships, assist with daily living needs, and support personal goals as part of a care team. This is a great opportunity to gain supervised experience working in mental health. Day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts are available. Pay is $19.19 per hour, or $21.50 per hour for full-time weekend shifts. Program Intern - Summer Youth 

The Program Intern for Summer Youth is a contract position with somewhat flexible daytime hours, Tuesday through Friday, July 7th through August 14, 2026, typically between 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., onsite at Open Book. There will be 1-2 paid planning sessions with the Program Manager in May and June 2026. The position supports the Loft’s Young Writers’ Program during the summer which provides creative writing instruction to youth ages 6-18, onsite at Open Book. Family Services Summer Intern

Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest (RMHC-UM) is a non-profit organization that provides families a home away from home to keep them together during a child’s serious illness, when family matters most. RMHC-UM at Oak Street is seeking an intern(s) to support RMH Summer Camp. Summer Camp takes place Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays we are offsite taking field trips with the kids and on Mondays and Thursdays we are doing onsite activities at RMH. Responsibilities consist of planning and organizing activities and/or crafts, preparing for field trips, supervising groups on field trips, and participating in activities with the kids.
