1. Graduate School: Mental Health Info Session

Wondering about graduate programs that lead to mental health related professions? Join Psychology Undergraduate Advising and Child Psychology Undergradate Advising at the Graduate School: Mental Health Info Session on Thursday, November 30th.
You will have the opportunity to hear from admission representatives from 4 local universities. Each will discuss their degrees & career fields in a large group setting. Following the panel discussion, students will have a chance to interact with program representatives individually at tables. Our panelists will represent master's degree programs in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, School Psychology, and Marriage & Family Therapy. Learn about the differences between various grad programs, how licensure works, what various career paths within mental health look like, and more! 2. Psych Club Meeting: Registration Night

Not sure what classes to sign up for next semester? Join Psych Club next week for our first ever Registration Night. We will use our time to talk with other psychology students about classes they've taken and recommend as well as potential minors courses that have helped students specialize their psychology interests. Come get to know the people in your major and some potential classmates next semester. Academic Advisor Mary Simonsen will be there to answer specific questions you might have on specific requirements for completing the major and Insomnia Cookies will be served.

6. Deadline Extended! Submit Your Research Paper to UCLA Undergrad Research Journal
Have you completed a research paper in a psychology-related field (i.e. psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, linguistics)? Are you looking for a platform to publish your work? The Undergraduate Research Journal of Psychology at UCLA is now accepting submissions of original undergraduate research papers to be published for its Spring 2018 issue. URJP is an organization dedicated to informing the community of psychological findings through research run by undergraduates from all universities. Last year, we received submissions ranging from local to international universities. URJP is one of the few established psychology journals that publishes undergraduate psychological research. The deadline to submit papers is October 30th, 2017. Multiple submissions from one author are welcome. 7. Study Social Change in an Off-Campus Setting this Spring!
HECUA, the Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs, is a non-profit organization based in St. Paul, MN, partnered with the Center for Community Engaged Learning. HECUA's off-campus study programs address some of the most important issues of our time. Semester-long HECUA programs incorporate classroom studies, an internship, and field work. The following programs will be highlighted: Making Media, Making Change, Environmental Sustainability, Inequality in America, and Race in America. PAWS (Pet Away Worry & Stress) sessions feature registered therapy animal teams—including dogs, bunnies, chickens and other therapy animals. Sessions are FREE and open to the University of Minnesota community. 12. Have a University Related Concern? Student Conflict Resolution Center Can Help
The Student Conflict Resolution Center (SCRC) is great resource for undergraduate and graduate students who have a University-related conflict or concern. SCRC is a confidential, neutral, and an informal resource for your students to help resolve such concerns. SCRC staff can assist students with a variety of issues, including but not limited to: grading or instructional complaints, financial and billing conflicts, graduate advising concerns, scholastic or behavioral misconduct and academic incivility. 13. Social Developmental Neuroscience Research Fellowship for Seniors and Recent Graduates
The Marcus Autism Center, in conjunction with the Emory University School of Medicine and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, is offering three fellowships: the Cohen Fellowship in Developmental Social Neuroscience, the Marcus Fellowship in Speech Science and Engineering, and the Simons Fellowship in Computational Neuroscience. Students who will receive a bachelor’s degree by June 2018 will be eligible for the positions. The fellowships will commence in July 2018, and they are 2 years in duration. 14. Senator Amy Klobuchar Spring 2018 Internship
The Washington office of U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar is currently considering interns for the spring 2018 session. An internship with the Senator’s office is a terrific chance for students to gain first-hand experience with both the legislative process and constituent services in the United States Senate. The spring internship runs from January to May and is available both part time and full time. If you will be attending classes during the internship we ask that you note that on your internship application, as well as what days and times you are available to work. 15. Internship with Fruitful Fertility Mentorship Program
Fruitful is a free fertility mentorship program that connects those struggling with infertility with a mentor who’s been through it firsthand and is now on the other side. We’re looking to partner with students who want real world experience in the fields of mental health, family therapy or social work to help create a curriculum that will equip our fertility mentors with the resources they need to best support those struggling with infertility. 17. Part Time Job at Indigenous Peoples Task Force
The Navigator position for the Indigenous Peoples Task Force will assist the coordinator in the implementation and organization of the Native Connections Grant program, focusing on community and tribal collaboration, outreach, referral and training/presentations. 18. Full-Time Clinical Interviewer Position at Minneapolis VA
Dr. Sponheim’s research laboratory at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center has a full-time opening for an individual interested in working with US military veterans who have experienced mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and/or PTSD while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. The goal of the study is to understand changes over time in memory and thinking, as well changes to the structure and function of the brain, following exposure to combat. These data may eventually allow clinicians to better diagnose and treat veterans with one or both of these conditions. This position requires the applicant to conduct one-on-one interviews with veterans and assess their cognitive performance, mental health, and life experiences – including traumatic experiences. Other responsibilities would include participant recruitment, data entry, and assistance with physiological assessment measures (e.g. MRI and EEG).
The applicant must possess a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Psychology or other health science) and be eligible for federal employment, which involves a full background check and drug screen. Applicants should have completed coursework in psychopathology, biopsychology or fundamental neuroscience, and statistics. Preference will be given to applicants with clinical interviewing experience. This is a full-time salaried position at the GS5 level and is eligible for benefits.
