1. Association of Black Psychology Students Officer Application
Looking to join a new student group and get involved on campus? Look no further because the Association of Black Psychology Students is currently in the process of finding new officers to help lead the organization for the 2019-2020 school year. The organization's mission is to support the academic, social, and career needs of students of African descent in psychology and related disciplines. This Association gives students of African descent an opportunity to develop a professional network geared towards social sciences. The deadline to fill out the application is Friday, May 31st. Courses of Interest
2. Summer 2019- EPSY 5114-001: Psychology of Student Learning - 3 credits
This course is an intro to the theories, data, and methods that compose educational psychology. We’ll review the developmental psychology concepts that are foundational for education. Then, we’ll explore how cognitive psychology informs questions of learning, memory, knowledge, and reasoning. Finally, we’ll focus on the classroom: instruction, motivation, assessment, and individual differences. This course has three goals:
1. Introduce students to the range of theories, data, and methods that comprise educational psychology. It serves as a foundation for future coursework in education and psychology.
2. Engage students in different types of empirical activities: collecting and analyzing experimental data, collecting and interpreting observational data, and accessing and analyzing survey data from a large database. Students will expand their methodological repertoire.
3. Allow students to write up the results of their research experiences in short but substantial papers. This will give them experience writing scientific papers.

5. Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program Applications for Fall 2019
The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program has added another opportunity for students to submit an application to be funded for research in Fall 2019. Applications will be due July 1, 2019, and here's the link for the program with further information. The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) provides all University of Minnesota undergraduates, regardless of college, major or discipline, the opportunity to partner with a faculty member on research, scholarly or creative project. UROP gives students a chance to explore academic and career interests, apply classroom learning to real-time research and prepare for a career or graduate school while working closely with a U of M faculty member. Students may work on a project of their own creation or take part in a faculty member’s existing project.
6. *Credit or Volunteer* Undergraduate Volunteer Research Assistant in Stress Laboratory
The laboratory of Dr. Justin Anker is looking for an undergraduate volunteer research assistant to assist in an ongoing psychophysiology study in the Department of Psychiatry. The purpose of the study is to identify biomarkers of recovery for alcohol use disorder. Responsibilities include the maintenance of experimental protocols (e.g., data entry, participant recruitment, and scheduling). This opportunity is eligible for PSY 4993 credit. Students interested in completing an Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program application are strongly encouraged to apply. We require a commitment of at least 10 hours per week and those able to make a multiple-semester commitment will be given priority. 7. *Credit or Volunteer* Undergraduate Research Assistant Opportunity for this Summer
The Elison Lab for Brain and Behavioral Development is looking for undergraduate research assistants for the summer, with the possibility of continuing into the fall. The Elab focuses on behavioral and social development through the first five years of life, with many of our studies focusing on early infancy. As a research assistant in the Elab, one may expect to spend a majority of their time on data entry, coding behavioral videos, and sibsitting during visits. Elab research assistants are made up of both volunteers as well as for-credit students and the time they spend in the lab each week is flexible and can be determined by them and their supervisor. 8. *Credit or Volunteer* Research on Longitudinal Study of Resilience in Military Service Members RA Position
The Readiness and Resilience in National Guard Soldiers (RINGS) research lab, under the direction of Drs. Melissa Polusny and Drs. Christopher Erbes at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System, is looking for research assistants! The current longitudinal study examines processes contributing to resilience in military personnel. Research assistants who join the RINGS lab will receive extensive training and gain hands-on experience conducting a large cohort study that utilizes evidence-based longitudinal tracking and survey methods. Duties include: recruiting soldiers to participate and collecting baseline data at National Guard armories on Saturdays/Sundays, conducting participant outreach and follow-up calls, conducting eligibility screenings for lab visits, data entry, attending lab meetings, and assisting lab technicians with lab visits. In collaboration with Drs. Scott Sponheim, Nick Davenport, and Shmuel Lissek (co-investigators on this project), research assistants may also gain experience with the collection of electroencephalography (EEG) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data in conjunction with cognitive tests, interview-based assessments of symptoms, and questionnaires. This is a volunteer position and requires an 8-10 hour per week commitment. Students can receive research credit for the course PSY 4993. Preference will be given to students who are available in the summer and fall, and those able to make a multiple-semester commitment. Start date is June 2019. Successful candidates must have a valid SSN (required to work on-site at the VA). Those with experience working with veterans or the military may be given priority. 9. Psychology Engagement Awards - Now Accepting Applications for Summer 2019
Up to two awards of $500 each will be distributed to qualified applicants each semester. These awards provide financial support to students participating in learning experiences beyond the campus and classroom environments. These experiences enable you to extend your learning into real-world settings. Summer applications are due by June 6th, 2019. Students will be notified of a decision by June 24th, 2019. 10. Sharon S. Brehm Undergraduate Psychology Scholarships
The Sharon S. Brehm Undergraduate Psychology Scholarships will recognize outstanding psychology undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need. The Brehm Scholarships will help defray the students’ direct educational costs (e.g. tuition, institutional fees, required textbooks, etc.). This funding will be available for the Spring 2020 semester. Please review eligibility requirements and how to apply on the website. The deadline is July 1st, 2019.

13. Fairview Hospice’s Summer Medical Explorers Program
Spend your summer gaining valuable, direct patient experience and knowledge by joining Fairview Hospice’s Summer Medical Explorers program! This 8-week program is an ideal opportunity for college students who are interested in a medical career. Volunteers will be required to give at least 8 hours of service per week, which includes attending a weekly in-service (Wednesdays from 10:00 am- 11:15 am) led by medical professionals. In-services will cover a variety of topics such as Effective Communication Strategies for Dementia Patients, Physician Aid in Dying, Cultural Diversity in Death, and Music Therapy/Guided Imagery. Patients are located throughout the Twin Cities metro, Princeton, and Wyoming areas. Visit times are flexible and will be scheduled directly with the patients you visit. Space is limited to only 20 students, and applications are due by May 29th, 2019. Interested? 14. Minnesota Twin Registry - Research Assistant (Full-time Position)
Dr. Glenn I. Roisman of the Institute of Child Development and Dr. Bob Krueger of the Department of Psychology, Co-Principal Investigators on a five year NIH-funded grant to follow-up the large Minnesota Twin Registry (MTR) cohort into late life, seek to hire a Research Assistant (8352R2: Researcher 2) responsible for carrying out field studies by interviewing study participants (aged 60-80 years) in their homes. In addition to questionnaires that participants will complete online (or by mail) before the in-person visit, structured research assessments conducted by the Research Assistant will include: an hour-long interview with the twin participants about their childhood experiences, objective assessments of twin participants’ physical health (including collecting samples of body measurements and a blood draw), and standardized measures of cognitive health. The Research Assistant will review data to assure quality and prepare data for analysis and publication. They will work closely with the MTR research participants, MTR co-investigators, and the MTR project coordinator who schedules visits, so a bachelor degree is required and research experience, knowledge, and skills plus outstanding communication and problem-solving skills are preferred. In addition, applicants must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to use their own car to travel for assessments of the older twins in this study. 15. Minnesota Twin Registry - Student Position
The Minnesota Twin Registry is looking for an undergrad student to work 15-20 hours per week. The job involves recruiting research participants over the phone (60%), delivering blood samples to two labs on campus (30%), and some administrative support (making photocopies, assembling assessment packets,etc.) (10%). 16. David Hoy & Associates (DH&A) – Hiring Full Time Administrative Assistant in Golden Valley
DH&A is a mental health agency offering both in-home and office-based counseling services. We are looking to fill a full-time Administrative Assistant position at our Golden Valley office. Hours are 9:45 am- 6:15 pm Monday-Thursday, and 8:45 am- 5:15 pm on Fridays. You will work alongside our Lead Administrative Assistant greeting clients, answering phones, taking new client referrals, managing faxes and records requests and keeping the tone of the office calm and happy. This position is perfect for someone who is comfortable working in a fast paced work environment and is interested in experiencing what it is like to work in a therapy office! 17. Lindahl Academic Center is Hiring Subject Tutors
The Lindahl Academic Center is hiring tutors for Summer and Fall 2019. Applicants must possess an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0, have taken and passed with an "A" or "B" in the course they want to tutor (equivalent course from other universities are okay), and capable of working flexible hours. Undergrad tutors work as few as four hours and as many as twenty hours per week and make $11 per hour. Excellent communication skills, patience, professionalism, and reliability are musts.
