Jessica Arend

On March 15th, 2025, the Bell Museum hosted a Spotlight Science: Brain Power event in partnership with over 70 UMN researchers from Neuroscience, Psychiatry, Psychology, ICD, MIDB, and other academic units. Jessica Arend, graduate student, told a standout “NeuroStory” in which they shared self-portraits of an artist with schizophrenia. Jessica discussed the neuroscience of psychosis and emphasized the importance of challenging stigma about serious mental illness. More than 800 Minnesotans joined the fun with dozens of brain-themed activities.
