Liza Meredith Hosts Anxiety Club Movie Screening with Award-Winning Director and Producer Wendy Lobel
On Tuesday, October 14, Liza Meredith, instructor of PSY 1001, Introduction to Psychology, and PSY 4501, Psychology of Women & Gender, hosted a screening of the movie Anxiety Club by Emmy Award-winning producer and director Wendy Lobel. Lobel herself joined the classes for the screening, with 300 students attending in person and 120 online.
For this film, Lobel drew on her personal experiences with anxiety, bringing to it a heartfelt authenticity and profound understanding of what living with anxiety can be like, and how vulnerability and humor can be a saving grace.. Following the screening, Lobel talked to the students about making the movie and answered their questions in a Q&A session. In the Q&A, students asked Lobel a variety of questions, including how long it took her to create the film (7 years), whether she plans to make more films (she does), if she used a Bo Burnham song in the film because he is vocal about anxiety (she did), and how she takes care of her own mental health.
