Liza Meredith Recipient of the UMN Award for Excellence in Academic Service Unit

Congratulations to Liza Meredith, faculty, for receiving the 2025 University of Minnesota Award for Excellence in Academic Unit Service. Nominated by Andrew Oxenham, this award recognizes exceptional contributions that have strengthened the functioning and climate of their unit and consists of a $500 stipend. A Service Awards Reception will take place on April 21, 2025, to celebrate its recipients.

Meredith is the backbone of PSY1001. She revitalized this core course, making it more engaging and cohesive. In 2024 alone, she taught about 2,000 students across multiple formats, including online, in-person, and honors sections. Her teaching consistently receives top ratings, with students praising her energy, kindness, and genuine care. Beyond her teaching duties, she coordinates over 25 discussion sections, manages a College-in-the-Schools Canvas course site, runs the department’s Research Experience Program, teaches additional seminars, and mentors honors theses. Her impact on our unit and undergraduate education is truly inspiring.
