Nicola Grissom Highlights ADHD Challenges in the Minnesota Daily

Headshot of Dr. Nicola Grissom

Nicola Grissom, faculty, discusses the unique challenges college students with ADHD often experience in the Minnesota Daily. She explained that fluctuations in focus can make it difficult for these students to manage their time effectively and prioritize deadlines. According to Grissom, individuals with ADHD may sometimes become intensely absorbed in a single task, while at other times struggle to focus at all. “College is both a time for academic focus and work,” she noted, “but also a period of rich social interaction and personal development.” While college students with ADHD may experience unique challenges, they should also be proud of all that they are tackling and accomplishing.
