Nicola Grissom Receives CLA MidCareer Faculty Research Award
Nicola Grissom, faculty, has been named a 2025-2026 recipient of the College of Liberal Arts MidCareer Faculty Research Award.
Grissom’s research investigates how chromosomal and gonadal sex mechanisms contribute to differences in decision-making, particularly in explore-exploit tradeoffs. Using mouse models, her lab examines how biological sex influences executive function, feedback learning, and behavioral flexibility processes often implicated in neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism and ADHD. By separating chromosomal influences from gonadal hormone effects, her work aims to clarify how multiple biological mechanisms interact to shape neurodiversity.
The MidCareer Faculty Research Award represents a strategic investment by CLA in faculty pursuing innovative research that advances their fields and strengthens interdisciplinary scholarship.
Nicola Grissom, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Psychology, and director of the NeuroGOAL Lab at the University of Minnesota.
