Remembering Alumna Linda C. Muldoon

Linda Muldoon

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Dr. Linda C. Muldoon (née Beir/Johnson), who died peacefully in home hospice on June 16, 2025, surrounded by loving friends and family.

Dr. Muldoon was a proud graduate of the University of Minnesota’s Clinical Psychology Program. Her dissertation, Psychiatric Diagnosis, the MMPI, Psychiatric Symptom Clusters, and Severity of Disturbance in Adolescence as Predictors of Adult Adjustment, was advised by Dr. A. Jack Hafner. In recognition of her decades of service and advocacy, she was honored in 2024 with the Minnesota Psychological Association’s Presidential Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Psychology, particularly for her longstanding commitment to the MPA Diversity Committee.

Throughout her career, Dr. Muldoon made a profound impact on the University community. She served as a senior psychologist and groups coordinator at University Counseling and Consulting Services (now Student Counseling Services), and as adjunct faculty in Counseling Psychology from 2000 until her retirement in 2011. She was deeply dedicated to training and mentoring graduate students in psychological services and group counseling—areas she cared for deeply and advanced with passion.

Linda was known not only for her professional excellence but also for her warmth, sense of humor, and zest for life. She will be dearly missed.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to her husband, Joe Muldoon; her son, Sean; and her grandchildren.

Dr. Muldoon’s obituary is available online through the Star Tribune.
