Tian’s Research on Personality Types Quoted in Business Insider

While taking personality tests such as the Myers-Briggs or Big Five test can be fun, research has shown that these tests might actually not be all that scientific. In a recent article by Business Insider India titled “Most personality tests (like Myers-Briggs) are junk science and can make you cling to a label — instead, focus on making meaningful change,” University of Minnesota graduate student Jingyuan (Sarah) Tian’s research on personality types was quoted.

Tian’s research showed Type A behavior is not typological --- there is no Type A or Type B personality. In fact, Tian suggests there are no true personality types or categories. All normal personality traits exist on a continuum such that we all possess different personality traits to some degree.
