1. Psychology Junior/Senior Check-In

Do you have between 75-90 credits this semester? If so, it's time for your Junior/Senior Check-In! This one-on-one appointment with a psychology advisor will:

• Check your progress towards your major to make sure you're on the right track to graduate on time
• Connect you with career and grad school resources to begin making your post-college dreams a reality
• Allow you a chance to give us feedback about your experiences as a psychology major

2. IOPC: Guest Speaker Event

We are excited to announce that our first event this semester will feature Sarah Sotever-Seehusen, an experienced professional in the field of Industrial/Organizational Psychology. She has research experience in I/O, worked at the Vocational Assessment Clinic at the U of M, and currently works in consulting. We hope to see you there! Are you interested in helping other Psychology majors interested in I/O Psychology? Do you want to polish your leadership and organizational skills? 3. Psi Chi / Psychology Club Upcoming Meeting

Thank you to everyone who attended our first meeting of the semester! We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all of you and seeing some new and familiar faces. That being said, we have taken your suggestions into consideration and are bringing you an event dedicated to learning more about how to get involved in psychology on campus. During this event we will have roundtable discussions with the following topics: Research, Study Abroad, Volunteering, Jobs, & Internships. There will also be snacks so we hope to see you all there! 4. Apply for Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology

Psi Chi is the International National Honor Society in Psychology. It's a great way to improve your resume and become eligible for new opportunities within the field of psychology. 5. Careers in Healthcare Networking (For CLA Students)

Join the College of Liberal Arts Student Board and CLA Alumni Society for an evening of networking. Students pursuing various careers in healthcare, public health, and medicine are encouraged to gain career advice from alumni and professionals. Students, whether you are interested in becoming a medical practitioner or you wish to work in a business, communication, or educational capacity, meet professionals in a myriad of occupations touching the healthcare industry. 6. Career Chat Thursday: Career Fair Prep

All CLA students are welcome to visit CLA Career Services during these special drop-in hours. Career counselors will be free to answer questions and have brief discussions with students. No appointment is necessary — it's designed for students to connect with a career counselor in a more casual atmosphere. Students are welcome to stop in when they can, stay as long as they want, and leave feeling more confident in their next steps. Treats provided!

9. NEDA Walk - Active Minds

Join other members of Active Minds at the National Eating Disorder Association Walk on Sunday, February 24th, 8:30am at the Mall of America! 10. Applying to Law School

Research

12. Undergrad Research Opportunity in I-O Psychology Lab

Professor Deniz Ones’ Environmental Sustainability (green) research team is seeking 3 undergraduate research assistants (UGRA) to begin working in Spring 2019 and to commit at least two semesters (i.e. continue in the Summer or Fall 2019). The UGRA will be involved with research projects on organizations' pro-environmental behaviors in the area of Industrial/Organizational psychology and will have opportunities to gain experience in data collection, data entry, and statistical analysis. UGRAs are expected to commit to approximately 10 hours of work per week, attend research team meetings and work independently on assigned tasks. Ideal candidates are conscientious and motivated psychology students who are interested in gaining research experience. This research experience may be especially important for those considering applying to graduate school in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Environmental Sciences, or a related field. We strongly prefer students who are proficient in a second language given our archival data retrieval needs (e.g. French, Arabic, German, Turkish, etc.). 13. Volunteer Research Assistant Position

Professor Betty Zhou at the Carlson School of Management is looking for conscientious and detail-oriented research assistants for her current study. The RAs will code behaviors from video and audio recordings. This is a part-time position for current undergraduate students and it starts as soon as possible. 16. Summer Internship with AshaUSA

AshaUSA is a non-profit organization focused on promoting health and harmony in the South Asian community. Based on our research, the community has identified Mental health as one of the areas which has been identified as one of the top priorities. Just like many communities, South Asians underestimate the importance of mental health and its impact on physical health and wellbeing in all areas of life. For South Asians in particular, the expectations in education, career and family life can be exceedingly high. South Asians tend to internalize their stress and emotional problems, minimizing the intensity of what they are experiencing or having physical symptoms that are indirect expressions of the stress. Acknowledging the mental health symptoms and explaining them to the people who care, will likely bring great relief. Major hurdles in preventing South Asians from seeking Mental Health help are stigma associated with mental health, myths and stereotypes about causes, treatment and care of mental health problems. Volunteer 5-10 hours a week working on developing a plan for AshaUSA's mental health initiative, creating marketing materials, and presenting the plan to potential partners. 17. Camp Kesem Mental Health Professional (Master's level)

Camp Kesem is a national nonprofit organization designed to support children through and beyond a parent's cancer by creating a magical week during which they can find support and have endless fun. We are in search of a Mental Health Professional to help us out at Koronis Ministries in Paynesville, Minnesota from August 18-23. Mental health professionals are responsible for counseling campers and counselors on various issues. Some of these issues are behavioral but others may tie to home situations or bereavement. They must have a Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, School Counseling, or a related Mental Health field. Email minnesota@campkesem.org with inquiries.

18. Pediatric Anxiety Research Center - Brown Medical School

The Pediatric Anxiety Research Center (PARC) at Bradley Hospital (located in East Providence, RI and affiliated with the Brown Medical School), is looking for two full-time clinical research assistants for several projects concerning obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety disorders in children and adolescents. Administrative duties include scheduling study participants, tracking progress of the studies, data entry and analysis, collaboration with community partners, and preparing submissions to the Human Subjects Protection Committee and Office of Research Administration. Aiding in study recruitment and developing innovative recruitment strategies is an important role of the research assistant. Clinical responsibilities may include screening research participants, administering ratings scales, behavioral coding of exposure treatment sessions, and administering diagnostic interviews to study participants. Participation in multidisciplinary discussions regarding research design and implementation is expected. Mentorship from psychologists and opportunities to assist in writing scientific articles for publication and grant submissions are provided. A strong academic record is essential and past research experience is desirable. Frequent travel to research sites in Rhode Island and Massachusetts is required for at least one position and may be included in both positions. Flex work schedules would be considered given significant travel to the Greater Boston area. 19. Undergraduate Student Employee- Student Parent Help Center

The Student Parent HELP Center has a great UG student employee job for any student interested in working with families. Any student majoring in Psyc, Soc, Fam So Sci, Child Psych would be a great candidate. We prefer work-study eligible, freshman and sophomores who want to maintain the same job through their degree program. This position is for Fall 2019, with a start date of the first week of classes.
