1. PSY/CSPY Graduate School Prep Workshop

Are you interested in pursuing graduate school in Psychology or related fields? Attend this workshop to learn about different graduate degrees in Psychology (Ph.D., Psy.D., Masters), how to find/identify programs of interest, application/admission timeline and materials, and how to make yourself a competitive applicant. 2. Research in Psychology Fair

Location: Elliott Hall 6th Floor

Psychology undergraduate students, stop by the 6th Floor of Elliott Hall anytime between 1:00- 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 11th to learn about psychology research opportunities! Representatives from psychology research labs, UROP, and Psychology Advising will be available to answer your questions. This event is specifically recommended for Psychology BS majors planning to complete the capstone during the 2019-20 academic year, but all students interested in learning more about psychology research opportunities are welcome. 3. Schedule an Appointment for Course Planning

If you would like to speak to a psychology advisor about course planning prior to fall registration, you will need to schedule an appointment. Please be aware that our appointments book out far in advance this time of year! To ensure you are able to meet with an advisor prior to your registration queue, please plan ahead and submit an appointment request at least two weeks before your registration queue time. It is also very important to notify our office if you are no longer able to make a scheduled appointment so that we are able to open those appointment times up to other students.

4. Join Psi Chi/Psych Club for Grad School Fair

Wednesday, March 27th, 4:30-6: 00 pm
Cost: Free
Location: N219 Elliott Hall

Join the Psychology Club for our second Grad School Fair. This interactive event will allow students to choose the information they want by providing a variety of booths to choose from with graduate students placed at each one. Examples of booths include How To Write a CV, Social Psychology, Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Masters Programs, and more. Food will be provided by UMN Dining. Come for 5 minutes or the full hour and a half.

5. Apply for Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology

Psi Chi is the International National Honor Society in Psychology. It's a great way to improve your resume and become eligible for new opportunities within the field of psychology. Any registered undergraduate, graduate, and professional student is welcome! No verification of income required. We care about sustainability - if possible please bring your own reusable bag!

8. H.O.P.E. Student Organization General Meeting

H.O.P.E. Student Organization will be having their next general meeting on Tuesday, March 26th from 6:30- 7:30 pm in Elliott Hall N219. Professor Ann Masten from the Institute of Child Development will be giving a research presentation about resilience, protective factors in families and children, and benevolent childhood experiences. This event will provide students with greater knowledge of creating positive growth in oneself and others in the face of adversity. There will also be time for discussion and questions. 9. LinkedIn Workshop for International Students

LinkedIn is an important tool for your career development and job and internship searching. Join this helpful workshop to learn how to use this tool to connect with employers, recruiters, and UMN alumni around the world; how to search for opportunities on LinkedIn; and how to best present yourself on the site when employers and recruiters are searching for candidates like you! We recommend bringing a laptop to this workshop if you can. This workshop is presented by Mari Ruddy of Career & Internship Services, and coordinated by Jane Sitter, UMN International Career Consultant. 10. The Way of the Healthy Deviant featuring Pilar Gerasimo

Industries represented include STEM, Healthcare, Analytics and Research, Psychology and Youth Work. The broad focus of this event will be useful for all students! 16. Working Towards Resilience Workshop

H.O.P.E. Student Organization is hosting the "Working Towards Resilience" Workshop on Wednesday, April 3rd from 5:00-6: 00 pm in Bruininks Hall (Room 131B). This workshop will be an interactive presentation engaging with the UMN community on the definition of ACEs (adverse childhood experiences) and how to understand and respond to individuals with high numbers of ACEs. This is a great opportunity to learn how to take action by providing effective forms of support to those affected by ACEs. Food and beverages will be provided. 17. NAMI - #WellnessinColor

The Multicultural Young Adult Advisory Board at NAMI is seeking individuals who want to share their mental health story. Our hope is to reduce the stigma of mental illness by reshaping its cultural language. Please help us by sharing your journey to mental wellness and contributing to our podcast series. This collection will be dedicated to capturing stories of what mental wellness looks like and how to achieve and maintain mental health. If you are interested, please fill out the form linked here. 18. Community Action Partnership of Ramsey & Washington Counties - Internship and Volunteer Opportunities

Community Action has a variety of internships available for the warm season. Many of our positions fill quickly so if you're interested in volunteering for experience or credit, you should start the process now! Scholarships

19. The Recovery Village® Health Care Scholarship

The Recovery Village® is dedicated to maintaining exceptional service at our alcohol and drug rehab facilities while providing unique opportunities for education and personal development. As part of this commitment, The Recovery Village® is offering a $1,000 scholarship to students pursuing a medical-related course of study. To enter to win a $1,000 scholarship, simply submit a short essay (no more than 500 words) describing why you are passionate about substance use disorder and mental health treatment. Essays can be in the form of a personal narrative with a medical perspective or focus specifically on clinical experience. A $1,000 award will be given to a student pursuing a health-related degree program. Areas of study that will be considered include, but are not limited to, counseling, social work, emergency medicine, pre-med, nursing, psychology (with a focus on addiction counseling or a substance-abuse related field). 20. The Non-Profit Scholarship

Do you have a dream of working in the non-profit world? Are you passionate about raising funds for worthy a cause? If so, the Non-Profit Scholarship may help you reach that goal. The Nonprofit Scholarship (up to $1,000.00 reward) recognizes and supports students who have a passion for nonprofit work that makes the world a better place. Applications for the scholarship are encouraged from students in all UMTC undergraduate colleges. 22. Research Assistant - Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute

A full-time research assistant (lab manager) is sought for the labs of Dr. Stephen LaConte, Dr. Pearl Chiu, and Dr. Brooks King-Casas, at the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute in Roanoke, Virginia. Research in the labs is devoted to advanced neuroimaging acquisition and data analysis approaches, aimed at basic scientific discovery as well as understanding and rehabilitating neurological and psychiatric diseases. The projects include methods from experimental and clinical psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral economics in healthy and clinical populations (including adults with brain injury, children with neurological dysfunction, mood/anxiety/substance disorders, and at-risk youth). The position may also occasionally require biological sample collection and/or image acquisition in animal populations. The assistant will be responsible for recruiting and screening research participants and running fMRI scans (and other imaging modalities such an EEG, MRI-guided focus ultrasound testing, and MEG), additional duties include managing subject databases, organizing project funds, and preparing IRB protocols. The research assistant is an essential member of the group and will be generally responsible for having the overall knowledge of research in the labs and managing the day-to-day logistics of ongoing projects. Training will be provided for all aspects of the position. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in graduate school in clinical or cognitive psychology, neuroscience, or healthcare. 23. Psychiatry Department - Recruiter RA Position

The Cognition and Brain (CAB) in Psychopathology Lab is seeking to hire a full-time Research Assistant responsible for recruiting participants to multiple NIH-funded studies on psychosis and traumatic brain injury. The RA will engage in community outreach, establish connections with local organizations, conduct phone screens to review potential participant eligibility, and then schedule participants for study visits. The RA will also maintain our public relations presence with website updates and social media account management. Opportunities to conduct additional assessments with participants may be available. A bachelor’s degree, or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years, is required and outstanding communication skills are preferred in order to facilitate empathic interactions with potential research participants. 25. Full-Time Research Assistant Position Available-JHUSOM

The lab of Akira Sawa, M.D., Ph.D., in the Johns Hopkins Schizophrenia Center has a full-time Research Assistant position starting May 2019. The position requires a two-year commitment, and a bachelor's degree in a health science related field (graduates in the spring of 2019 are eligible). Responsibilities include recruiting and screening healthy controls, patients with first-episode psychosis, and patients with related brain disorders (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease, mood disorders) into the study. Involves regularly interacting with patients’ families and healthcare providers as well as escorting participants through various study procedures such as neurocognitive testing, blood draws, MRIs, among others. The position also involves data organization/management and will provide leadership opportunities. Educational experiences include attendance at Teaching Rounds and there is the potential for inclusion in research papers.
