2. Are You Graduating in Spring 2019? Save the Date to Celebrate!
Psychology majors who have applied for Spring 2019 graduation will soon be receiving an email invitation to the 2019 Psychology Undergraduate Celebration. This annual psychology undergraduate event recognizes award recipients and graduating seniors in front of peers, staff, faculty, and family for all of their accomplishments! The event will be held on campus Friday, May 3rd, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. 3. IOPC: Rescheduled Guest Speaker Event

We have rescheduled our guest speaker who could not attend our last event due to weather. We are excited that our next event will feature Sarah Sotever-Seehusen, an experienced professional in the field of Industrial/Organizational Psychology! She has research experience in I/O, worked at the Vocational Assessment Clinic at the U of M, and currently works in consulting. Pizza will be served and we hope to see you there tomorrow! 4. Psychology Club Journal Series: Dr. Canan Karatekin

Psychology Club/Psi Chi will be collaborating with a new student organization H.O.P.E for our second Psychology Journal Club event. This event gives students the opportunity to learn and discuss the research being done by faculty psychology departments. It will also allow students to learn more about the new H.O.P.E. organization and how to get involved. The mission of the Psychology Club Journal Series is to expose students to a broad spectrum of psychological research through the critical analysis and presentation of current articles from the psychological literature and to connect students and faculty with shared interests. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Canan Karatekin from the Institute of Child Development who will base her talk on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES). More information about the articles used for this meeting will be distributed by the Psychology Club email (email psichi@umn.edu to be added to our mailing list). Students attending the events are not expected to fully understand topics before they arrive but are encouraged to be prepared to ask questions on the material afterward. We hope to see you there!

Psi Chi is the International National Honor Society in Psychology. It's a great way to improve your resume and become eligible for new opportunities within the field of psychology. Stop by the Careers in Law Fair to speak with representatives from law schools, government agencies, paralegal programs, nonprofits, criminal justice organizations, political offices, and LSAT prep programs. You can come anytime to learn and ask questions about graduate school requirements, volunteer programs, internship experiences, and professions in the legal community. 7. Upcoming Trans, GNC+ Allies Event on Campus

Hello trans, gender non-conforming (GNC), and cis psych students! The Gender and Sexuality Center is partnering with Student Counseling Services for a series of discussion groups for the trans, GNC, & ally communities. Each meeting will cover a different topic related to building allyship for trans & GNC communities. Student Counseling Services and The Gender and Sexuality Center would invite all of you to our March meeting. The meeting is this coming Wednesday, March 6, 5:00 pm- 7:00 pm, Appleby 41. We will have a discussion on what makes for productive allyship, building allyship and supporting trans & GNC communities. All students are welcome to attend! There will be an additional meeting on March 27th from 5:00 pm- 7:00 pm in Appleby 41 that is intended only for trans and GNC people to meet. NO RSVP required. 10. Undergrad Research Opportunities with the Minnesota Twin Registry (MTR) Lab for Summer 2019
We are looking for 2 undergraduate research assistants for the Minnesota Twin Registry (MTR) Lab, to start in Summer 2019. MTR has a grant, conducted by Dr. Robert Krueger (Psych) and Dr. Glenn Roisman (ICD), that will examine personality, social relationships, and health in adulthood. RAs will receive credit for PSY 4/5993 and will assist in two tasks. One will be to conduct surveys over the phone with research participants, as part of a larger assessment being done. The phone survey is about education, work, personality, relationships, lifestyle, and health. The other task will be to assist in relocating research participants whose contact information needs to be updated. RAs may also be assigned articles to read and will be expected to work approximately 9 hours per week. Must be fluent in English and have good verbal skills. 11. Paid Research Assistant Position
Professor Betty Zhou at the Carlson School of Management is looking for conscientious and detail-oriented research assistants for her current study. The RAs will code behaviors from video and audio recordings. This is a part-time position for current undergraduate students and it starts as soon as possible. 12. Washburn Center for Children Internships
Washburn Center for Children is committed to offering families professional therapeutic services to help children experiencing depression, anxiety, behavioral difficulties, trauma or other mental health challenges. We are currently interviewing for an unpaid internship position to begin immediately in our afternoon classrooms in our Day Treatment program in our facility at 1100 Glenwood Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55405. Interns will have the opportunity to work with a teacher team in providing therapeutic support to the children to foster emotional and behavioral regulation skills, support emerging social and coping skills, and promote developmental growth. 13. Peer Helper with destress
If you enjoy helping others and are looking for a volunteer experience next year, this would be a great fit for you! Boynton Health is recruiting graduate and undergraduate volunteers to serve as Peer Helpers for the 2019-2020 school year. As a Peer Helper, you will receive training from Boynton Mental Health & Student Counseling Services. You will meet with students to talk through stress in their life and help them develop a proactive stress management plan. 14. BCA Lab Epstein – Rhoads Internship Program
The BCA Lab Epstein - Rhoads program provides an internship experience for college students interested in entering the field of forensic science. This program offers students an opportunity for observation of forensic scientists at their work, as well as involvement in working on an assigned laboratory project. The 10-16 week non-paid internship program will require each student to complete an assigned project with a laboratory staff member consisting of an extensive literature review, laboratory experimentation and research, compilation of data, and an oral presentation. 17. Psychiatry Department - RA Position
We are looking to hire a full-time employee who will serve as the primary research assistant (RA) to the research coordinators working on multiple NIH-funded research protocols focused on alcoholism, anxiety disorders, and psychophysiology. The RA will assist with patient recruitment, ongoing patient assessment including diagnostic interviews, data collection, data entry and verification, appointment scheduling and reminders. In addition, they will be responsible for phone screening potential participants, preparing participants and equipment for EEG data collection, and collecting, logging, and storing specimens including hair and saliva samples. Training will be provided for all position responsibilities. Hours for the position are Monday through Friday from 9:30 am – 5:30 pm, with occasional weekend hours required. There is some flexibility on the position start date for students graduating in the Spring. A one to two-year commitment is requested. This position requires a keen sense of detail, adherence to standard lab procedures including timeliness and professionalism, and all responsibilities are to be completed according to strict adherence to the Federal Code of Regulations and Good Clinical Practice Standards. 18. Project Engage
Dr. LeAnne Johnson's Project Engage is looking for an immediate hire for an hourly data collector position. The position is for coding video 5-10 hours a week, which can be done remotely and on the person's flexible schedule. The coder will be trained by the research time and would be assigned a set of videos to complete weekly and have occasional remote meetings. The position starts immediately and will continue through the summer with the potential of continuing during Fall 2019.
