1. Are You Graduating Spring 2018? Save the Date to Celebrate!

Psychology majors who have applied for Spring 2018 graduation will soon be receiving an email invitation to the 2018 Psychology Undergraduate Celebration. This annual psychology undergraduate event recognizes award recipients and graduating seniors in front of peers, staff, faculty, and family for all of their accomplishments! The event will be held on campus Friday, May 4, 2017 from 4:00pm to 5:30pm. Please mark your calendars now and RSVP here! The deadline to RSVP is tomorrow, April 25th. 2. "I Feel You" - Mental Health Awareness Day

"Everyone is going through something that we cannot see. This is an everyone thing."

As college students, we are stressed by so many things every day. It could be academics, relationships, social life, personal finance, etc. However, you are not alone. "I Feel You" Mental Health Awareness Day aims to raise awareness of mental health issues and to promote healthier lifestyles within the community.

We want to create an environment for you not only to share your own stories with your peers but also to learn more about stress management. We will have Student Counseling Service to talk about stress management and free Yoga session. There will be Kungfu Tea, Canes, cultural games, and lots of fun!!

7. Alternatives for People with Austim Inc. Open House

Alternatives for People with Autism is hosting an open house and hiring event this coming Wednesday 4/25 9:30a-1:30p. It's a great opportunity for students to see our facility, learn more about the position, and apply if they are interested (there's also the free food piece and gift cards).

The direct care positions offer great experience and skill development for students pursuing related fields such as Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Psychology/Psychiatry, Speech Language Pathology, Special Education, Nursing, and other medical fields.

8. Social Interaction Lab

We are seeking enthusiastic, conscientious, and detail-oriented students to work in Dr. Jeff Simpson’s Social Interaction Lab in the Summer of 2018. We will be collecting data (e. g., running participants) from parents and their child (age 3-5) on a project about differences in parenting behaviors. Because we have many community participants, we have to be flexible in scheduling the lab sessions. That means sometimes working on nights or weekends, and the schedule will change from week to week (but sessions are scheduled around your availability). Successful applicants will have multiple chunks of 3+ hours available per week. Prospective research assistants should be able to commit approximately 9 hours of work per week over the summer. Preference will be given to students that are able to commit for more than one semester. 9. Narrative, Identity, Culture and Education Lab

We are looking for undergraduate research assistants for the NICE (Narrative, Identity, Culture, and Education) Lab in the Department of Psychology, to start in Fall 2018. Research assistants will receive credit for PSY 5993, and will assist in one active study examining the impact of cultural representations on identity development among Native Americans through digital storytelling methods. RA duties may include assisting with literature review and analysis of qualitative data. RAs will attend regular lab meetings and be expected to work approximately 9 hours per week. 11. De-Stress is Holding Peer-to-Peer Stress Check Ins

It's getting to be a stressful time of the semester. The De-stress student group is hosting free peer-to-peer Stress Check In appointments where students can talk through the stressors in their lives, come up with solutions, and connect with campus resources. Appointments are available on East Bank, West Bank, and St. Paul. Schedule an appointment here.

12. Feel Better Fast Support Group

The Feel Better Fast group through Student Counseling Services runs every Thursday 11:15-12:45pm in Appleby 351. Are you feeling overwhelmed by the demands of the semester? Do you want to learn effective ways to manage stress and practice general self-care? If so, this is the workshop for you! Join us for a 3-session workshop that will teach you techniques on stress and anxiety management, mindfulness, emotion management, and general self-care. 13. Patient Service Associate in the Eden Prairie

We are in need of Behavioral Health specialists in our corporate office in Eden Prairie. This position includes assisting customers with their questions and then engages them in learning more about eligibility, benefits, and claims. This includes educating on managed care benefits, Employee Assistance Program Benefits, and additional resources available, such as educational materials and Lifestyle Management Programs. Tasks Personal advocates complete on a daily basis include; enroll customers into the intake system and open case files; educate customers on practitioner referrals according to contract, specialty, and/or geographic need; complete brief intake assessments on clinical calls that include assessing for risk of harm to self or others and substance abuse concerns; and assist with customer claim inquiries and/or practitioner pre-certification requests, depending on team responsibilities. 14. Andrew Residence Seeking Full and Part Time Mental Health workers

We utilize the Psychiatric Rehabilitation model and the evidence based practice Illness Management and Recovery to work cooperatively with our residents when formulating the individual treatment plan. Through a series of assessments and discussion of prior experiences, the resident and their program manager form a partnership to focus on eliminating self-defeating behaviors and replacing them with skills and behaviors that increase their independence and autonomy. All staff that serve as program managers receive training in this method. Residents have the opportunity to attend groups that focus on therapeutic recreation, independent living skills, and interpersonal skills. We have an in-house vocational program that recognizes Andrew residents require a supportive and structured environment to learn job-seeking skills in order to prepare them for the competitive work in the community.

15. Paid Research Coordinator Position

The Department of Psychiatry is looking for an exceptional candidate to fill a part-time, professional level Research Coordinator position. 16. Intern at Amicus - Volunteers of America MN and WI

Amicus partners with inmates, ex-offenders, juvenile offenders, at-risk youth and communities to build successful lives and stronger communities. The Reconnect program provides specialized, one-on- one planning, referrals, and assistance for ex-offenders who are returning to the community and searching for jobs, housing, ID, transportation, and other identified needs. 17. Heartland Girls Ranch - Horse Program Internship

Heartland Girls Ranch is offering an Horse Program Internship this summer. Heartland Girls’ Ranch is located in Benson, MN approximately 150 miles from the Twin Cities and 30 miles west of Willmar, MN. Founded in 1992, Heartland Girls’ Ranch is a working ranch and residential group home for girls ages 12-21 that provides comprehensive support services including; housing, life/job skills education, mental/physical health support, equine programming and other trauma-informed therapies and a dedicated school for the girls in our program. HGR serves an average of 70 girls each year. The girls served by the Ranch come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and circumstances, but their common trauma experiences unite them. Many of the girls report prior physical, emotional and sexual abuse, have run away from home and/or have experienced homelessness before coming to our program. The majority have been in foster care or other out-of-home placements and many are from families surviving at or below the poverty line. Due to this trauma exposure, all of the girls have some form of emotional and mental health challenges. Girls referred to HGR are considered to be high risk for sexual exploitation and many have already been victims of sex trafficking. To learn more and apply, please visit our website.

18. Reading Corps Scholar Coach

Scholar Coaches are full-time Minnesota Reading Corps members placed in each K-3rd grade classroom and work as a team to help students meet their literacy goals. Scholar Coaches collaborate directly with the classroom teacher to support increase achievement through evidence-based literacy interventions and whole-classroom support. 19. Cognitive Trainer Positions Open - Employee and Paid Internships

We are currently seeking energetic individuals who have a strong desire to positively impact the lives of others through our intensive cognitive training program. Join our team as a Cognitive Skills Trainer at our centers in Eden Prairie, Maple Grove and Shoreview. Like a personal trainer for the brain, our part-time Cognitive Skills Trainers work with students in an intense, one-on-one environment to improve learning, reading, and math. We utilize specific techniques to strengthen cognitive learning skills, attention, and memory in students from a wide range of backgrounds and age groups such as K-12 students, adults, and those with traumatic brain injuries and other cognitive impairments. We are looking for quick thinking, high energy individuals who are pursuing or have completed a bachelor’s degree in Psychology or other social science. We require at least four weekdays with availability from 4PM-8PM. This is a great long-term part-time position for individuals seeking psychology experience. Internship credit available along with starting pay of $14/hr plus bonus potential. Training is provided.
