Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hi, my name is Lauren Howard. I am 22 years old and I am from Arcadia, California. I graduated from the University of Redlands in April 2016. At Redlands, I majored in communicative disorders and minored in biology. I have lived in California my entire life and I love going to the beach, hiking, traveling, and finding new adventures. I am excited to embark on this new adventure at the University of Minnesota and look forward to the next chapter of my life.
What population are you most looking forward to working with in a clinical setting? Why?
I am really looking forward to working with children while at the University of Minnesota. I have always enjoyed working with children and I haven’t truly had a ton of experience with children in a clinical setting. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with many different populations at the U and I know that I will gain a lot of experience during my time.
What are your professional goals and aspirations?
When I graduate from the University of Minnesota I hope to be in a hospital setting working with all populations. Although I am not 100% certain where I will be in the future I know that this program will help me determine where I see myself working in the future.
How do the department faculty and staff support your goals?
Although I have not yet started school at the U, the department faculty and staff have been extremely helpful. Earlier this summer I visited the U, was given an amazing tour of the department, and all of my questions about the program were answered. I know that the department faculty and staff will only continue to support my goals and help me reach my greatest potential while at the University.
