The Political Uses of Trauma: Establishing and Expanding Veterans Treatment Courts in Minnesota

UMN Sociology PhD Candidate Victoria Piehowski will present, "The Political Uses of Trauma: Establishing and Expanding Veterans Treatment Courts in Minnesota."

Victoria examines punishment discourse and politics, with a focus on the way policy actors use and mobilize around discourses of trauma. Her work has appeared in Punishment & Society, The Russell Sage Journal of the Social Sciences, Social & Legal Studies, and Frontiers: a Journal of Women Studies. She has a forthcoming article in Law & Social Inquiry.
