Sociologists of Minnesota | 2025 Conference

We are excited to announce the upcoming conference of the Sociologists of Minnesota, hosted by Macalester College in St. Paul, on October 3rd and 4th, 2025. Savelsberg, will give a plenary address. A keynote address will be given by Lesley Kanderas, General Manager of Public Transit and a Hamline Alum.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: September 9th. Please submit your papers, papers in progress, or panel sessions to Elizabeth Scheel-Keita, with the subject line Sociologists of Minnesota Submission. 

STUDENT PAPER COMPETITION: The conference will have an undergraduate and graduate division of our Caroline Rose Student Paper Competition. We welcome UMN students to submit a paper for a chance to win! For more information regarding the paper competition, please visit the conference website.

Student Paper Competition awardees are also eligible for the following support from the Midwest Sociological Society:

• Complimentary MSS 2026 student 1-year membership and 2026 conference registration for 1st and 2nd place graduate and undergraduate paper winners. 
• $150 travel grant for four awardees (1st and 2nd place graduate and undergraduate paper winners).
