New Advisory Board Member Paul Boruta

Headshot of Paul Boruta

This fall, the School of Statistics welcomed Paul Boruta to its advisory board, where Boruta’s experience and point of view will help to inform the school’s leadership team.

Boruta is a serial technology startup founder and advertising industry veteran with a passion for marketing technology. Paul founded his most recent startup, Slingwave, in 2017, to leverage machine learning and Bayesian statistics to help solve some of the most thorny problems in marketing attribution and analytics. Prior to Slingwave, Paul was the CEO and Co-Founder of Pipewave, a company focused on media and creative optimization for marketers and agencies on YouTube. In 2012, Pipewave was acquired by ZEFR, a Venice Beach-based digital technology company. Prior to ZEFR, Paul was Sr. Director of Ad Products at Yahoo!, and a technology equity research analyst at Goldman Sachs and Piper Jaffray. Paul has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from St. Olaf College. After 18 years in Los Angeles, he and his family relocated to Edina, Minnesota in 2022.

We asked Boruta how he was feeling about joining the board and he eagerly replied:

“I am excited to join and contribute as a new member of the board.  The School of Statistics has incredibly talented students and faculty, and I have been impressed with the caliber of the program and people I’ve worked with to date.  I look forward to adding my entrepreneurial and tech startup perspective to the board, with a lens toward helping our students refine and market their skills to make an even greater impact as they graduate.”
