All new and transfer students are required to attend Orientation to help you prepare for a successful academic experience at the University of Minnesota.

Orientation Dates

Fall 2018

Freshman Orientation (2-day orientation sessions)

Freshmen meet with an advisor and register for classes at on-campus orientation. Orientation dates are offered based on students responses to the New Student Checklist -- to see the dates that are available specifically to you please log onto and complete your New Student Checklist. Depending on you responses in the New Studnet Checklist, not all date will be available to you. Usually, by the end of May, most dates are full. Schedule the earliest orientation possible to maximize your course choice options.

Transfer students meet with an advisor and register for classes at orientation. Orientation dates are offered based on major, not all majors are offered each date and space is limited -- to see the dates that are available specifically to you please log onto and complete your New Student Checklist. Schedule the earliest orientation possible to maximize your course choice options.

Parent Orientation for Fall 2018 

 
Orientation & First-Year Programs offers both a concurrent parent orientation during freshman and transfer orientation and a Saturday orientation session just for parents. This is a great option for parents who are not able to attend during the work week.
