Advising Appointments

On-Campus Advising Appointments Are Back

We are available for on-campus advising appointments. Contact us at 612-625-2300 or book an appointment online.

Advising appointments with your MLK academic advisor are available at various times between 9 AM and 3:30 PM. These appointments are 30 minutes long and are required at least once a semester for your first 1–2 years in the program in order to register for classes, and strongly suggested thereafter. Full advising appointments are necessary to release holds, make changes to student records, plan for graduation and address all other questions and concerns that cannot be answered in under 15 minutes.

If you need assistance with probation or suspension, please review MLK Probation & Suspension before making an appointment with an advisor.

Drop-in Advising

Drop-in advising appointments are available at various times throughout the day. You may see any of the advisors listed in the schedule for a drop-in appointment. Drop-in appointments are reserved for quick questions and usually last 5–15 minutes. To see an advisor during the drop-in advising times, please fill out an appointment slip with the front desk, and you will be seen in the order in which your slip was received.

We also offer drop-in appointments on Zoom. To connect for remote drop-ins, you must sign in with your University of Minnesota username and password and you must be signed into your Zoom account. (View the Zoom Desktop or Mobile App installation instructions).
