MFA Application Instructions

For the MFA program, we expect: a minimum of 18 undergraduate credits or the equivalent in theatre arts, a 3.0 grade point average, and a US bachelor's degree or comparable foreign degree from a recognized college or university.

Admission into the MFA Design & Technology Program is based upon application materials and a portfolio review by the Design/Technical faculty. The portfolio should show evidence of work in at least two design/technology areas, craft skills, drafting, and drawing and rendering ability.

Please note that we admit graduate students for fall semester only. Only under unusual circumstances will students be allowed to begin their studies at another time during the academic year.

Your application for the MFA Design & Technology program should be received by the department no later than March 31, 2023.
Applications arriving after those dates will be considered only if there is an opening in the program.

All application materials should be submitted directly to the online application. We cannot review your application until all of the required materials listed below (except the MFA Design & Tech portfolio) are submitted successfully.

Transcripts Unofficial transcripts or academic records should be uploaded directly to the online application. Please do not mail in paper copies of your transcripts, there is no need for official transcripts or academic records for initial review.

If you are admitted, the University will then request official copies of your transcripts.
