Jesus Leyva (MA/PhD)
Jesus hails from Brown University were his work focused on 18th Century French Ballet Notation systems. In particular, he is interested in thinking about questions of abstraction and representation as they pertain to how notation interacts and modifies the dances that it seeks to reproduce on paper. Furthermore, Jesus is interested in the potential for dance forms like Ballet to interact in the broader status of France as an empire in the 18-19th Centuries as well as the role that colonial ideology might play in Ballet production. When he is not thinking hard about Ballet (and how it’s cool), Jesus can be seen talking about Minecraft and Podcasts.
