Matthew Gawryk (MFA)

Matthew Gawryk

Matthew Gawryk received his BFA in Lighting Design from DePaul University in 2004.  Since then he has worked as a lighting and scenic designer, as an electrician and a carpenter, and sometimes as a waiter and wine clerk throughout Chicago. He spent time touring with a gypsy/circus/punk marching band and a modern dance company. He has designed over a hundred productions with a variety of theater companies around Chicago. It is however his experiences teaching art and design in universities, high schools, summer camps, and outreach programs that brings him to the UMN for his MFA. In addition to continuing to design in theater, Matthew hopes his lasting contribution to the world will be his work in arts integration education.
