Natalie Dollison (MA/PhD)

September 28, 2016

Natalie Dollison comes to UMN from the Rocky Mountain West where she toiled in obscurity for many years as an actor, director, scenic artist, and IATSE stage technician. She completed a Masters in Arts Leadership and Cultural Management at Colorado State University, where her primary focus was in cultural management and public history, particularly the implications of monuments and historic markers as coercive forces in the construction of national identity. She is interested in contemporary spoken word poetry performance in South Africa and the ways in which the performers of the "Born Free" generation wrestle with their national and cultural identities in the post-apartheid "Rainbow Nation".
