Smaida Māra Rizzotto (MFA)
Smaida Māra Rizzotto is a third year Lighting Design MFA candidate at the University of Minnesota. Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Smaida got her B.S. in Business Administration at St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee, OK. She has worked as a lighting designer for Pippin, 2017 Dance Revolutions, and The Eumenides (Rarig Center), James & the Giant Peach Jr. (CTC in Minnesota), and Virtues (Sarkey's Performing Arts Center).
She worked as assistant to the lighting designer for shows such as A Little Night Music (Ritz Theater), The Hobbit (CTC), and Hot Funky Butt Jazz and Argonautika (Dowling Studio).
During the summer of 2018, she worked for the Minnesota Fringe Festival, and in 2019 she did an electrics internship at Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago. In the 2019-2020 season, Smaida will be designing the lights for The Caucasian Chalk Circle.
