Situated within a public university within a vibrant metropolitan area, Theatre Arts engages in interdisciplinary community collaborations with professional theaters and diverse publics. Graduate historiography faculty have transnational research ties to radical Egyptian dramatists, Cuban activists, and Israeli/Palestinian political movements. Design and Technology draws thousands of middle school students to experience "explosive" science transformations in our theater, and works with area high schools to introduce students to the basics of design and technology. We host a high school Social Justice Theater program in our spaces and connect undergraduate theater students with the Speaking Out Collective in area schools. Faculty have worked with scientists to enhance communications around pharmaceuticals and rare disease.
