Research Opportunities

The faculty and staff of UMTAD encourage all students to take full advantage of this research institution.  Research here at the University encompasses a wide variety of opportunities outside of the traditional research structure, including creative activities and on-site hands-on learning.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP)

Motivated students are encouraged to apply for the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) grants.  This program is designed specifically for undergraduate students to collaborate with a faculty member of their choosing for projects of their own design.  Successful projects for theatre students in the past have  included researching, updating, and performing 20th century vaudeville scripts; developing and producing a translation of a contemporary avant-garde Japanese play, and researching and crafting an auto-ethnographic performance piece about Hmong female shamans.  Students are eligible for grant funding including expenses, and they will present their research or creative activities at the end of a school year.
