CLA Second-Year Course
Second Year Experience (SYE)
All incoming CLA first-year students must complete the second-year career management course CLA 3002 during their second year. The Second Year Experience consists of an in-person 1-credit course.
The SYE helps students build on the skills and tools learned in First Year Experience courses to pursue opportunities and to deepen their liberal arts education through co-curricular experiential learning opportunities (e.g., internships, research, learning abroad, and community engaged learning, among others). Finding, applying and obtaining experiential learning opportunities often is built upon a hidden curriculum, unwritten rules, and access to social capital. This course addresses these barriers in an effort to provide equitable access. These experiences enhance student learning, and sets individual students up for future success post graduation.
