Thinking about a PhD? An Honest Conversation

Are you interested in pursuing a PhD in the humanities and social sciences? Come talk with current PhD students from the UMN’s Critical Race and Ethnic Studies graduate writing group! These students will discuss their personal journeys in pursuing a PhD, what type of research and courses to expect, and how they navigate academic institutions and institutional violence. They will also talk about the complex process of researching and applying to PhD programs.

This event will have a facilitated Q&A section followed by an open forum for attendees to ask questions of the panelists.  

An Honest Conversation welcomes all undergraduate students considering applying to graduate school and centers BIPOC and marginalized experiences. It is hosted by CLA Career Services and the Center for Race, Indigeneity, Disability, and Gender and Sexuality Studies (RIDGS). 

This event is open to all students, regardless of race, ethnicity, and national origin.
