Kati Mohammad-Zadeh

Kati Mohammad-Zadeh, (J.D. University of Wisconsin Law School, Ph.D. University of Southern California) is a Senior Lecturer, teaching a wide array of courses in the Political Science Department since 2004.  As a licensed attorney, as well as a political scientist, Kati is very involved in policy making in the community through her leadership roles on the boards of the Hennepin County Bar Foundation and The Family Partnership.  She was the Chair of the Hennepin County Bar Foundation where she helped create and led the innovative Fellows Program and helped fund legal nonprofits in the community.  She was Chair of Policy at The Family Partnership when they spearheaded the passage of the Minnesota Safe Harbor Act of 2011. The act ensures that Minnesotans under the age of 18 who engage in prostitution are viewed as victims and survivors, not criminals. They will be directed to supportive services, and shelter and housing instead of being incarcerated as before. Minnesota was only the fifth state in the nation to pass such legislation.  She has presented her work, "Attitudes, Games and Missions," on the voting behavior of Supreme Court justices in separation of powers cases at meetings of the American Political Science Association and the Midwest Political Science Association.
