In order to apply to our programs you must submit an application to both the Department of Writing Studies and the Graduate School.
Use the online application to upload supplemental materials for your Graduate School application.
Follow our instructions for application carefully.
We suggest that you submit the application materials to the Graduate School at least three weeks before the deadline to allow them time to process the information and forward it to our department.

TOEFL English Language Proficiency
All applicants whose native language is not English or who have not previously completed a degree in English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), and must score at least 550 (paper version) or 79 (internet version, with at least 21 on writing and 19 on reading). They should also provide a short example of their academic writing in English authored solely by themselves.
